Konzept (deutsch):

Es gibt 4 Kuratoren für die diesjährige Velada in Santa Lucia, das von mir gestellte Thema hat folgenden Hintergrund:
„STILLE POSITION“

Der Ortsteil Santa Lucia ist nach Lucia von Syrakus benannt, es gibt einen Grabstein der belegt, das Sie im 3.Jahrhundert in Syrakus, Italien gelebt hat . Sie soll sich selbst die Augen herausgenommen haben, um sich einer Zwangsheirat zu entziehen.
Ich weiss nicht, ob diese Überliefenung wahr ist oder nicht, da ich aber kein Historiker bin, sondern Künstler möchte ich diesen Akt der Selbstverstümmelung einmal als gegeben annehmen. Lucia hat sich also selbst das Augenlicht genommen, damit hat sie sich zu einer Kollegin des Ödipus gemacht, der sich anläßlich der 2.ten Orakelbefragung ebenfalls selbst geblendet haben soll.
Ödipus ist in der westlichen Welt durch seinen drastischen Lebenswandel zu einer Gallionsfigur für die Philosophie, die Psycholgie und das Drama geworden.
Künstler mögen es nicht wenn die Leute sich die Augen rausmachen, wir verlieren dadurch potentielle Kunden, außerdem gehört es zu unserem Job, den Leuten zu einer anderen Sichtweise zu verhelfen.

Dennnoch ist Lucia, die Namensgeberin des Ortsteils St. Lucia, für uns sehr interessant.
Wenn wir im Wachzustand die Augen schließen, gerät ein Teil von uns in einen Zustand der Stille.
Ein Menschen, der plötzlich erblindet, gelangt in eine Position der Stille.
Das ist die Ausgangsebene für meine Themenstellung zur Velada Santa Lucia 2010
„stille position“.

Alle Kuratoren, die an früheren Veladas in St.Lucia mitgewirkt haben, haben fast ausschließlich Künstler eingeladen, die in der gleichen Stadt leben und arbeiten wie sie selber. Meiner Arbeit liegt ein anderer Heimatbegriff zu Grunde, meine Heimat ist der Planet, auf dem wir leben.

Concept (english):

There are 4 curators for the Velada in Santa Lucia this year. My subject has the following background:
'SILENT POSITION'

There is this part of town in Maracaibo called Santa Lucia, it is named after Lucia from Syrakus. A grave stone tells us, that she has been living in Syrakus, Italy in the 3rd century. She destroyed her eyes to escape from a forced marriage, so the legend says.
I do not know, if this is true or not. I am not an historian but an artist, so I just accept the story.

By taking her own eyesight, she is an associate of Ödipus. He also destroyed his eyes, after he had heared the Oracle from Delphi for the second time. Because of his dramatic life Ödipus has become a famous figur in psychology, philosophy and drama in the western world.
Artists do not like it, when people take out there eyes. We loose customers. In addition to that, it is our job to support people finding a different, new perception. Still Lucia, the patron of St. Lucia, is very interesting for us. When we close our eyes, while we are awake, a part of us goes into a state of silence.
A person, who goes blind suddenly, will get into a position of silence. This is the base for my theme for the Velada Santa Lucia 2010 'silent position'.

The curators from former Veladas have almost exclusively invited artists from their own hometown. In my work I have a different idea of home. My home is this planet, on which we live.

Hay cuatro curadores para la velada de este año en Santa Lucía.
El tema por mi propuesto, se basa en lo siguiente:
"STILLE POSITION"-"POSICIÒN DE SILENCIO"

El lugar conocido como Santa Lucía lleva este nombre en honor a Lucía de Siracusa. Existe una tumba de piedra que atestigua que ella vivió en el siglo tercero en Siracusa,Italia.
Se dice que ella misma se extirpó los ojos, para de esta manera evitar un matrimonio al que estaba siendo obligada. Yo no sé si esta Leyenda es verdadera o no, dado que no soy un historiador sino un artista, sin quiero aceptar este acto de automutilación como algo real.. Lucía entonces se quitó ella misma la luz de los ojos, de este modo se se convierte en una colega de Edipo, quién en ocasión de la segunda consulta al oráculo, de igual modo habría enceguecido.

Edipo es en el mundo occidental conocido debido a su drástica transformación en una figura icónica de la filosofía que trasmuta en psicología y drama. Para los artistas es motivo de especial dolor saber de gentes que se arrancan la vista, no solo perdemos un público potencial , además forma parte de nuestro trabajo el ayudar a ver a la gente las cosas desde un angulo distinto .

Sin embargo es Lucía otorgadora del nombre al barrio St. Lucía ,para nosotros muy interesante.
Cuando en estado de consciencia cerramos los ojos, una parte de nosotros entra en un estado silencioso.
Una persona que de pronto enceguece, deviene en una posición de silencio. Es este mi punto de partida para mi fundamentación en relacióna la Velada Santa Lucia 2010, "Posición del silencio".

Todos los curadores que en las pasadas Veladas en St.Lucía colaboraron, invitaron casi sin excepción artistas que viven y trabajan en la misma ciudad tal como ellos mismos.
En mi personal concepto de patria, es ésta extensiva a todo el planeta en el cual vivimos.
